Cle Elum ORV - Since 1985
|
The State of Washington transferred the ORV NOVA funds (money raised by ORV tag and the fuel
tax). The Cle Elum Ranger District maintains and patrols our 500 miles of trails with grant money
obtained through this funding. The District is working hard to come up with a skeleton crew during
this time, but riders and wheelers should expect to see changes on the ground, including possible
trail closures due to damage or safety issues that cannot be addressed. For more information,
please contact WOHVA.

Yamaha Supports CleElumTrails Off-Road Crew!
|
Yamaha OHV Access Initiative Grant Program is teaming up
with Sportland Yamaha (Cle Elum/Roslyn), the V-Team, and
CleElumTrails OHV Education Program in 2010! Yamaha is helping keep OHV Rangers and
Volunteers on the ground and working hard for you next season. The $10,000.00 grant will go
directly to salaries - to maintain trails, log them out, run Jr. Ranger Classes, and keep the number
one OHV ranked program in WA State running in 2010. Please take the time to stop by
SPORTLAND YAMAHA and thank Jeff for his program support, and keep in mind...Yamaha is
stepping up to the plate to protect your right to ride!
Currently, we are just logging out the trails and trying to keep pace with the snow melt. We are
already feeling the budget cuts, as I only have one other ranger working with me each weekend.
Our full crew will be working the week before and the Memorial Day Weekend. Other than
that...Just out trying to get things done with 1/4 of the workforce. We have the same crew members
this season: Mikki, John McHaffie, Steve (Bear) Cromien, Jeremy McGinnis, and Merrick Graves.
But, their hours are cut way back, so for the most part they are rotating weekends.
This past weekend (May 8-9), John and I logged out the Taneum, including the Icewater
Campground short loop and Kid's trail, the North and South Fork Taneum trails to the snowline (no
loops yet), the Taneum Ridge trail to the snowline (Fishhook Flats), and our volunteers logged out
approx. 7 mileson the Cle Elum Ridge Trail.
This weekend, we will see if we can get the FIshhook loop open, but I would expect we will be
snowed in down low. I will keep you posted.
