Our Tail...  Pup Tale...  Who We Are!
Working Together
B.A.R.K. works together with local
resources and agencies,
including Kittitas County SARS &
the U.S. Forest Service.
Dog Tired!
We work extra hard to learn our
trade, so we take long naps
whenever possible!
It is the desire of this team to work under the direction of local law
enforcement agencies to assure the safest, most efficient search
to aid in the survival and recovery of avalanche victims.

BARK Provides -
+  Scene safety through snow pack stability assessment
and use of explosive ordinance as needed to control , if
possible, any remaining hazard

+  Complete avalanche hasty teams to locate, recover,
and evacuate victims quickly.

+  Specialized dog teams which reduce the number of
personnel exposed to further hazard.  One canine team
can do the job of more than 150 people searching with
probesBARK is intended only for specific and immediate
deployment. However, BARK can provide support for
extended rescue resources such as ongoing avalanche
hazard evaluation and consultation to SAR managers as
necessary.
BARK’s secondary objective is education.  In hopes of being pro-
active in saving lives, we offer courses on safe winter travel, snow
pack evaluation, and self rescue.  BARK also provides a
transceiver practice field up at Alpental.
