Setting: Steep, STEEP climb to the Cle
Elum Ridge Trail (a motorized trail). There
are two creek crossings and one spring on
the climb, but there is no water on top.
Description: This is a popular trail among
the locals and those passing through the
area and want a quick and hard hike. The
trail is very steep, gaining 2,000 feet in less
than two miles. Granite and Fowler Creek
Homeowners have adopted this trail and
take great pride in maintaining it. Look for
well-maintained switchbacks and water
crossings. This is a very difficult trail for
stock (narrow and steep tread in areas) and
mountain bikers (mostly hike a bike). This is
a non-motorized trail.
Granite Creek Diary -
The Granite Creek Trail is used and
maintained by the local Fowler and Granite
Creek Communities.
The trail is frequently used for training. It is
very steep, climbing 2,000 feet in less than 2
miles.
In 2009, users began to use an old nail on a
tree near at the top of the trail to record the
time it took them to reach the top.
The Cle Elum Trails crew has replaced the
ribbons with a small plastic container with
paper and pen - so you can record your
hike experience.
We will be bringing the notes down and
entering them on our FLASH Hiking site. On
that site, you will also find an instant record
form where you can post your hike time or
your experiences.
Thanks for making the Granite Creek Trail
the pride of the neighborhood!
