along the ridge to the next junction with
3300 at 4 miles (both spots are good MTB
drop-off points, but the 2-mile mark, except
for a short hike-a-bike start, is all downhill),
passeing through some clearcuts on the
way. Just past the junction is the junction
with Fishhook Flat Trail 1378. From there
the trail begins another steep uphill climb.
At 5 miles, the trail levels off as it continues
to follow the ridge up and down hill. The trail
continues straight before switchbacking
down the mountainside through scattered
trees and meadows. It enters a large saddle
in a big clearcut on private land. At 10 miles
is the junction with South Fork Taneum Trail
(referred to as “Four Corners”) and heads
uphill. At 10.3 miles, the trail enters old-
growth forest and switchbacks up Peaches
ridge. At 11.5 miles, the trail levels off on a

water available on this trail.

Junction – parking for 25+ vehicles (a
Northwest Forest Pass is required).
Description: The trail crosses to the north
side of road 33, parallels the road for
several miles, crosses the 3300-133 road
(the trail will take a hard left turn half way up
this old roadbed – look for the trail sign. If
you continue straight you will find yourself
on the Cle Elum Ridge Trail). The trail then
follows near the North Fork Taneum Creek,
crossing it several times. Except for two, all
crossings are bridged. After passing the
junction with trail 1378, the trail will enter
logging areas and cross another road. Just
past Butte Creek (at 9.4 miles) is the
junction with Lightning Point trail #1377.2,
which goes to the right and straight uphill
(very, very steep) through a clearcut (2006)
to connect with the Cle Elum Ridge trail
1326. At the 13 mile mark the 1377 trail will
be away from logging, and continue along
the creek to the old Taneum Shelter. From
the shelter it will climb sharply to Windy Pass
(trail reconstructed in 2006) and ends at the
junction with Cle Elum Ridge trail 1326.

approximately the 11 miles mark, Lightning
Point Trail #1377.2 provides access down
(2.4 and very, very steep – Most Difficult
trail) to the North Fork Taneum trail #1377.

large whoops have developed where the
trail parallels roads. The top trail sections
can be very challenging. Portions of the trail
were relocated in 1980.
